It was a ship!. When Henri de Tonti and Robert de La Salle arrived at the great lakes they came up with the idea for "The Griffon!." The Griffon was a ship that Robert de La Salle's crew built when they needed a large ship to travel through the great lakes and down the Mississippi!. Henri de Tonti drew up the blueprints for "The Griffon!." It was extremly big weighing 90,000 pounds and it had five large guns!.
