Question: Is it true that in Bulgarian schools they teach to children that Alexander the Great was Bulgarian!?

there are some speculations about the heritage of the great conqueror as he was from macedonia, where slavs have been living for centuries, after he established his empire!. but as his ancestry was traced, his parents both have greek ancestry and archaeological sites proved that the soldiers found buried there with ancient greek rituals!. that can also be said in other places from pella to india, where their names were inscripted in greeks!.

and to think of it, macedonians left their city centuries before the earliest slavs occupied it!. but still, bulgaria clamors for the real identity of the conqueror, claiming him to be a bulgarian!.

but we have to put these in mind that, if they are claiming alexander to be a bulgarian, both in heritage and legacy, had they mislooked the fact that the name macedonia came from two ancient greek words and all the practices inculcated by his empire was even called hellenistic or greek!?

well, we can understand their stand for it, but as we look closely, alexander can be any citizen of the countries of his empire, as he was the ruler of them!. i have nothing against it, but surely history will take a serious 180 if this really happened!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, I've heard also other things about Bulgarian History, but I guess every nation 'translates' history the way it wants!.
The problem is when:
1!. it is too exaggerated
2!. it is not only for internal use but it is followed by territorial and other claims!
Do you know that Bulgarians say that they are descendants of ancient Thracians!?
This is partially true in my opinion, but they are not saying that Greek Thrace is theirs for example, they just want to POINT their !.!.!.nativity to the land they are in!. If you look at Wikipedia you'll see that it is said that scientists doubt about it!.
But this is what they learn in their schools!.
It is not quite wrong and of course it is not harmful for other lands!.
I wish other Balkan countries, such as FYROM(acedonia) would do the same!.

I know now there is going to be a big battle between them and Greeks, what nationality was prophet Muhammed or king David:)!
