Your question is painful, but there are those who spout the lies that it was a hoax!.

The answers given are gentle, and correct!. But you ask a better question near the bottom- Why would people promote a ridiculous assertion obviously proven untrue-meaning those that say it did not happen-

The only answer is ignorance, mixed with hate!.

Ignorance I can understand since I am a teacher, Hate I can;t!.

I find it hard to believe that any educated and trained historian would write a book arguing the truth of the Holocaust!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Could not agree with Bilbo more! And yes, have seen the artefacts, and visited the concentration camps and museums, but most importantly know of the huge gaps in generations of missing people! In the case of the Jews, millions of people eradicated along with their descendants!. The Polish government complained to Germany not so long ago about the fact that their population would have been considerably better off if they had not been decimated by the German policies of the 40's!

Not a subject for debate!.!.!.it happened!Www@QuestionHome@Com

As I know it happened, I'm not sure of the premise of your question!. Knowing of people who perished and having seen the physical evidence for myself - crematoria and artefacts, the hair stained by prussic acid I cannot imagine it is some elaborate hoax (Auschwitz-Birkenau)!. I think you need to look carefully at the evidence assembled at Yad Vashem (on their website)!. In some countries it is now illegal to deny the holocaust occurred!. http://en!.wikipedia!.org/wiki/Holocaust_d!.!.!.

It is an interesting question - the further we are from the event chronologically, the more doubt may be placed on the fact that it happened, or that it happened in the way we imagine or it has been recorded!. However, the enormity of the event and the determination to avoid its recurrence are likely to prevent this!. Not that there has not been crimes of similar dimensions perpetrated since in countries like Rwanda or (Cambodia)!. Perhaps you should look at David Irving's polemics on the matter (with scepticism)!.

Oh look I got a non-judgemental thumbs down - wonder what that means!? Not getting the response you expected!?

I have also visited Tehran - the reason that they can promulgate the view that the Holocaust didn't happen is that the state-controlled education system (with its politically-biased teachings) have raised generations who can be convinced about virtually anything in the name of religion - and certainly don't have the opportunity (or encouragement) to see any evidence to the contrary for themselves!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
