Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Napoleon supported some of the revolutionary ideas but stopped sort of being a radical!. During the revolution if you did not wear the national colors or associated with anyone from the aristocracy you could be imprisoned and killed, Napoleon did not support this!. He did permit the people to keep their gains during the revolution and kept the some of the ideas going!. You see the thing is the middle class of France did not want the full original revolutionary principles, which would of been something close to communism!. They also did not want a king with absolute power and a nobility to rule society!. Napoleon took parts of both extremes to appeal to all parts of society!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Given the fact that Napoleon proclaimed himself the first emperor of France, I tend to think he didn't support revolutionary ideas!. See also this quote by Napoleon:

"We have finished the romance of the Revolution, we must
now begin its history, only seeking for what is real and
practicable in the application of its principles, and not
what is speculative and hypothetical!."Www@QuestionHome@Com
