Question: Why did communism fail!?
I don't get it, it seems to perfect on paper!. Why did it fail in so many civilizations!? And if it was implemented properly, would civilization actually be able to abide it and grow from it!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Communism failed because Marxist theory doesn't take into account human nature!. According to Marxism, there will be a violent overthrow of the middle class by the oppressed workers at which point there will be a dictatorship of the proletariat (workers) to wipe out the capitalists!. After this, all government will dissolve and the people will live in harmony with each other in small groups!. Basically this means we will revert to palaeolithic society!. What Marx didn't account for was that somebody will gain enough support to take over a large area of land and subjugate the people!. This is how we progressed from the palaeolithic society in the first place!. In Russia this person was Stalin who ruthlessly crushed opposition to his coming to power after Lenin's death!. So no country will be able properly have communism because some greedy person will just take over!. Finally, you can't grow as a country under communism because in a true communist state there is no country or government!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well there is an ongoing debate about that, and many people would tell you different things!. Especially considering there are countries such as China who are still communist!. But as far as I'm concerned, communism failed, firstly because while it seems perfect on paper, it can never be more than an ideal as it does not take human nature into account, and the fact that power easily corrupts!. As well as this, the fact is that it can be seen in history that different leaders carry Marx's original doctrine on communism in different ways, reading it the way they want to!. For example Mao Zedong was considered a margarine Marxist by Stalin, because of some of Mao's policies - and yet both leaders professed to be communist, and as such should have policies that were at least similar enough that they wouldnt disagree!.
also, the economic policies of communism seem to be hard to make successful!. They quite obviously weren't successful in the USSR before its collapse, as the economic problems were one of the main reasons for its collapse!. In Czechoslovakia in 1968 when Aleksander Dubcek came to power, economic issues were some of the first to be addressed through reforms!. Gorbachev was the most popular Russian president in America, creating 'Gorbymania' in the US, and this could be attributed to the fact that his policies of glasnost and perestroika seemed more democratic than communist!. So really it could be said that economic problems associated with communism are one of the main reasons for its failure, as well as human nature!. It could be said that the reason China has remained communist for so long is because its economic policies are more democratic/capitalist than anything else (remember Mao Zedong, the former leader of communism in China, was dubbed a margarine Marxist by Stalin)
