Difficult question I had to think about this for a second before I grasped your point!.

The atomic bomb was introduced at the end of WW2!. The allied powers were polarized into 2 camps, democratic, and communist!. This 2 spheres of influence competed for supremacy, neither could live with the other!. When the USSR got the atomic bomb the cold war officially began!. Why cold war!. Because with the bomb both sides had the ability to destroy one another, so both sides competed with one another without going into a real war, a "hot war"!. The 2 powers competed for influence all over the world!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

No!.

The Cold War really can't be said to have begun before the end of the active military alliance between the Soviet Union and the Western Powers at the end of the second World War!. In fact, as a acknowledged conflict, it's probably proper to say that the Cold War began with the 1947 Truman Doctrine, several years after the employment of the atomic bombs!.

However, the race for success in producing atom bombs had been going on for some time before they were employed by the United States, and that race for technological and military advantage, if not supremacy, is one of the main characteristics of the contest we call the Cold War!.

Hydrogen bombs were first introduced in the Cold War, as were nuclear powered warships and truly intercontinental-range missiles!. Lasers, as weapons, were also directly tied to the Cold War!. Most of the other weapons systems which characterized the Cold War were actually first employed during the Second World War (guided missiles and bombs, jet aircraft and shaped-charge anti-tank weapons, to name a few), and evolved into increasingly complex and usually reliable forms during the Cold War!.
