Question: Was Francis Xavier ever in the Philippines!?
I need some historically verifiable facts!. There is a tradition in the south that this Jesuit missionary set his foot on the shore of Sigaboy (in Davao Oriental, Philippines) when the galleon that was supposed to bring him to Japan allegedly got ship-wrecked along the straits of Sigaboy!. This accordingly is the reason why the place got Saint Francis Xavier as its patron saint!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Unknown and disputed!. If you're looking for historically verifiable facts, you won't find them!.

"It is claimed by some that during this expedition he landed on the island of Mindanao, and for this reason St!. Francis Xavier has been called the first Apostle of the Philippines!. But although this statement is made by some writers of the seventeenth century, and in the Bull of canonization issued in 1623, it is said that he preached the Gospel in Mindanao, up to the present time it has not been proved absolutely that St!. Francis Xavier ever landed in the Philippines!."Www@QuestionHome@Com
