Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
History of Prussia, World War II, American Civil War, Napoleonic Age!.!.!.
But the Roman Empire (especially Traian, Hadrian, Septimus Severus!.!.!.) is also interesting!.

and I love Alternative History, even if it′s not so really scientific!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I always enjoyed the ancients, also!. But lately I have been spending more time in Europe, say from Charlemagne to Waterloo!. Hundred Years' War, Wars of the Roses, Napoleon, the Crusades!. That kind of stuff!.

I read biographies from any period as long as it's about someone that interests me!. I enjoy books about seafaring and the history of exploration!. And I enjoy books about archeology!.

I do enjoy some historical fiction, but I'm really picky about what!. It has to be someone at the level of Michener or Uris!.

Generally, I like any book that is well-written, unbiased, well researched and puts the topic in good context!.

I enjoy virtually all kinds!.!.though I find Post Industrial Revoplution Western Civilization to be rather dull!. After the 1700s or so, I only find the Warfare to be of interest, and I am an avid reader of Nqaval Warfare from the 1600s through WW 2!. I also greatly enjoy reading about ww 2 and the Napoleanic Wars!.

I would say "Bible" History is my favorite, aka the cultures that interacted with the Jews throughout history, be it the Egyptians to the Medo-Persians to the Romans at Massada!.

I also tend to read a lot about the Celtic Cultures and the Norsemen (not Vikings!.!.!. viking is what they did, no twhat they were!. They were Norsemen)

I am also realizing how alarmingly ignorant I am of Mezo- American history, though it seems much of what is out there is speculation anyhow!.

I also like to talk shop about ww 2 and Vietnam along with Military technology with Karl!.

I also rather enjoy Biographies (am still waiting for the 3rd installment of a rather excellent Biography on Theodore Roosevelt) and even Historical fiction if it is wqritten by a reliable scribe, like Bernard Cornwell's Sharpes Rifles!.!.where they chronicle any changes they made to historical fact!. Sometimes breathing life into characters of the Era can make history all the more alive and fascinating!.

I even use a Baker Rifle for hunting deer during Muzzleloader season because of those books!. (and they are as accurate as advertised)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm currently working my way through a War series "Forgotten Voices"!.
So far it has included WWI, WWII {general}, The Battle of Britain, The Holocaust, The Falklands War!.

As I was only born in the early 1980's, I'm interested in 20th century history, and 19th century British history, as well some from the 16th century onwards, and the Celts!.

An excellent book I read was :
"The Cruelest Miles: The Heroic Story of Dogs and Men in a Race Against an Epidemic" by Gay Salisbury and Laney Salisbury

It's about the 1925 diptheria epidemic in Alaska {the basic plot of the animation "Balto"}, and really goes into great detail about all the elements of it, even talking about the best breeds of husky for pulling sledges! This piece of history is commemorated in the annual Iditarod race!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hahaha ! Yesterday I went to Barnes&Nobles with my kids!. My son (he's in 2nd grade) asked for a book about the Trojans and I suggested (and he accepted) another book about "Pompeii" and the "Roman Empire"! So, here you can see, what I enjoy, apparently he does too ! (Remind you, these books were for his level of reading)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
