First, just because you overthrow one government doesn't mean other nations will accept you as the new ruling power!. Look at Napoleon!. Though he repeatedly beat the armies of different European nations, they continued to fight him!. He represented something they feared, and threatened the stability of their own states!. (You don't want people thinking you can kill your king and any commoner can work his way up to ruler!.)
Next, just because you have the population backing you doesn't mean you'll have the support of those who actually run the government!. The bureaucrats may not like your government, and it's hard to get them to do a good job!. They can simply misfile or lose paperwork, and suddenly you find that troops aren't getting paid and the food being bought is no good!.
Then there is the money issue!. Has the previous government spent or hidden all the state's money!? How are you going to pay all your basic bills!? How are you going to raise new money!? Look at the American Revolution!. There were a lot of questions about what taxes to impose, and who to impose them on!. Never mind who actually would collect the money and what happened if people refused to pay!. Google Whiskey Rebellion!. People are all for things until it comes out of their pocket!. Then the support erodes!.
Just because people supported the overthrow of a govenment they didn't like doesn't mean they will support you!. If anything, they may have learned that they like getting rid of people who are going to try to take their money in taxes, or that they may try to grab power themselves!.
One last one!. Overthrowing a government may mean you owe too many people too many things!. If the population helped you overthrow an upopular king, but then you turn around and appoint someone to replace their local nobleman ruler, they will rapidly realize they gained nothing in the overthrow!. If you owe too many people, you may not be able to pay them all off as they expect to be paid, and now you have new enemies!.
Hope some of these help!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
