Until the Wright Brothers came along, the best was a straight line flight!. However, the Wright Brothers were able to demonstrate their heavier than air airplane could fly in figure of eight path!. Just Brilliant!.

Here's a video clip of the 100th anniversary of the Wright Brothers first flight at Kitty Hawk in c1903!. In the 2003 attempt they did not pay full attention to exactly how the Wright Brothers achieved a neat lift-off!. If you watch the original film you will see a weight going down on a hauser which helped drag the plane into the air!. also the plane was set on tracks - clever!.

What the Wright Brothers achieved at Kitty Hawk was just amazing considering that they probably only knew the rudements of flight and were in fact bicycle makers - well, at least the new how to build a light weight frame etc!.

Because of their invention of the first airplane and the flight at Kitty Hawk!? I would think that would be enough!. What do you think they would think of the planes we have today!? But, without Orville and Wilbur we might not have come as far as we have!Www@QuestionHome@Com

the wright bros!. are so important because they remodeled aerial warfare in fact they invented it not only that if it wasn't for them then you could go from KY to CA in about 5 hours it would days(if not weeks) to get thereWww@QuestionHome@Com
