Question: What were the main reasons behind the Salem Witch Trials!?
I'd like to know what the main religious reason behind the Salem Witch Trials!. This was originally for a school paper, but I'm more interested now!. I know that there are a variety of reasons for the Trials, but, I'd like to know the main religious reason!. Thank you!Www@QuestionHome@Com

the belief that the devil was actively trying to tempt people-that he could and did manifest and interact with people!. they took the Bible literally with all its warnings!. people lived in fear-of God, the Devil, Witchcraft--it overrode their common sense, because they honestly believed in all these things!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think that there really were any true religious reasons for the Salem trials!. Basically, a bunch of hyperactive teenage girls went on a power trip, and Puritan church officials in the colony made the unfortunate mistake of believing them without properly investigating what sort of motivations the girls could have for making the accusations they put forward!.
