Algeria, is one example!.

invention; The guillotine

The guillotine (pronounced /?gij?tin/ or /?g?l?tin/ in English; [gij?tin] in French) was a device used for carrying out executions by decapitation!. It consists of a tall upright frame from which a heavy blade is suspended!. This blade is raised with a rope and then allowed to drop, severing the victim's head from his or her body!. The device is noted for long being the main method of execution in France and, more particularly, for its use during the French Revolution!. The guillotine also "became a part of popular culture, celebrated as the people's avenger by supporters of the Revolution and vilified as the preeminent symbol of the Terror by opponents!."

In 1791 as the French Revolution progressed, the National Assembly (at the suggestion of Assembly member Joseph-Ignace Guillotin) sought a new method to be used on all condemned people regardless of class!. When Guillotin himself died, it was not on his namesake as legend would have it, but instead of natural causes on May 26, 1814!.

The Spanish , and Russian revolutions seemed to take ques from the French!. Certainly, the Cambodian revolution when Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge took control was mimicking the French!.
The science of Genealogy became popular so you could track down relatives of the Dukes and Marquis, anyone related to royalty needed to be killed!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is actually pretty funny, but THE RUSSIAN Revolution! You know they had this THING for anything French!. And since it was led by educated men, and NOT the peasants (though THEY were the muscle behind it, as were those in the French Revolution), the peasants, much the same as in France at the time, were MUCH more concerned with getting food than with philosophy!.

The Americans, were far more ideological, at least in their declarations, though the REASON for the initial blow against England (the Boston Tea Party and then, the Lexington/Concord battles) were more for economic reasons!.

The French TRIED to emulate this and even brought Thomas Jefferson over to "teach them"!.!.!.ha-ha! He just insulted them! They were so mule-headed, they refused to grow potatoes during "the Little Ice Age", but insisted on sticking to grain, which died and resulted in famine, which resulted in attacks on the monarchy and the famous misquote: "Let them eat cake"!. (Seriously, who would say THAT!?!)!.

As for inventions!.!.!.I did a couple searches, but found nothing!. I'm sure others will answer this one---I'm really curious!
