Gold these days is not used by being minted into coins - it is used by sitting in one (safe) place and acting as an excuse for permission to mint paper money!.

Leave it alone, unless of course the real estate has become more valueable than the gold stored there!. Not going to happen in todays market!.

The security there is probably by far the best anywhere!. Why should the American public
1!. pay to have it moved somewhere else!.
2!. pay again to have the proper security installed in and around it
3!. take the chance of some idiotic group stealing some during transfer

Don't even want to think of what this would cost US taxpayers!.
