Prior to the war years, women stayed home and raised children!. There were a few exceptions - single women who had to work, did so, but the jobs open to them were low paying and not very highly regarded!. With the onset of WW2, thousands of men joined up, and all of a sudden there was a serious worker shortage!. Women stepped up and filled those roles - they served as riveters, plumbers, pipefitters, pilots, bus drivers -- all the jobs that they had been previously denied!. And along with those jobs came bigger paycheques!. In famlies where the men were serving in the armed forces, women became the heads of the households, and became accustomed to handling money, writing cheques, balancing budgets, and all that goes with it!. So it was a HUGE change in economic roles, from being the little housewife who was given a weekly allowance to run the house (and often the women had no idea of how much their husbands earned) to being the head of the house, having money, and having the freedom to use it!. We learned that last year and I am pretty much good with it! I think I can help you!. IDK about WOW,WAC or Rosie or Riveter but this is what I learned about women in WWII!. I'm saying it out of what I remember because the stuff on Wikipedia is hard to understand!. What with the fancy words and all!.!.!.!.

Anyway- here we go-

In the war men had to go work in the army so women had to take over the men's jobs!. If you're goin' deep into WWII hisory then you might come across the evacuation of children to faraway places!. This evacuation process was also done to make the mothers free for the taking over of the jobs of men!. They worked as bus drives, milk deliverers, others worked in the navy as nurses and operators!. After the war, men came back to resume their jobs!. Many women had gotten used to working and liked to continue their jobs!. Many women protested about this and equal right between men and women!. Women were given jobs in society but with lots of criticism which there still is!. Economy changed a lot after WWII, Women worked side by side with men so the countries were more benifitial and all!.

Women rights is my fave topic in WWII!. I like to read on it so I know fairly a lot!.!.!.

Ok!. Hope I helped!

(I love sayin' that!. I have no idea why!)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Women worked on the home front while men served in the Armed Forces and fought for us!. This changed the economic roles from the husband providing the money to the wife providing the money!. But they were laid off when the men returned home!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

During WW!! many women entered the job market for the first time!. These women not only covered jobs traditionally done by men, but became a significant part of the workforce as well as financial support for their families!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
