Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Giles Corey, Salem Township, Massachusetts Bay Colony!.

Tried as a Witch, Giles could have spared his life by admitting to the charges against him, but doing so would have cost his family their land and their standing in colonial society!. So rather than make paupers out of his wife and children and falsely admit to something he didn't do, he chose to stand mute, thus blocking any attempt to convict him!. For two days in a row in September 1692, he was pressed under the weight of stones to torture a confession from him, and it is said that his last words, when asked what he had to say, where "More weight!." He died bravely, protecting his family and his good name from religious fanatics and torturers!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

From Peruvian History I can recall Alfonso Ugarte!. During the Battle of Arica during the War of the Pacific, he saw himself cornered by many chileans in the tip of a cliff!. He was the flag-carrier so if he was captured, so was the flag, a peruvian flag under chilean hands cannot be imagined, it would be a direct shot at honour!. So he jumped from the cliff and died in the sea!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
