It's objectives were: 1!. bolster the Saigon regime 2!. convince the North Vietnamese to cease supporting the Viet Cong in South Vietnam 3!. to destroy the North Vietnamese air defense system, transportation system and industrial base 4!. to interdict the flow of men and material into South Vietnam Rolling Thunder was the most intense air/ground battle of the Cold War and at its conclusion was deemed a failure, because it had not achieved any of its goals!.
