Question: Anyone know a lot about US History!?
2) From 1607 to 1763, Americans had gained control of their political and economic institutions!. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I disagree!. The decision making and economic power still came from Great Britain!. Royal Governors were appointed!. Most of the goods were imported!. It was after 1763 when things started to change!. That's my take anyway,Www@QuestionHome@Com

Disagree!. Politically, there was the Revolutionary War, which started around 1775, had already planted a seed way before then!. Around the early 1700's people weren't happy!. They didn't even consider themselves Americans, because a lot of them were still very loyal to the king, but some weren't!. There wasn't much of a united front!.

Indentured Servitude was pretty prominent around the late 1500 late 1600's but the black slavery was building around just before the mid 1700's!. And from the start there were people running around thinking it wasn't necessary so economically, the thought was already under that slavery would end up being a moral argument from a time to come!. Actually, although Americans did not officially declare their independance from Britain until the signing of the Declaration of Independance in 1776, that does not mean that steps weren't being taken to become an independant nation!. Many American's were speaking out against Britain and were taking measures to gain public support like writing articles, holding public speeches, and protesting (if you could call it that, it surely didn't involve picket signs and riots)!. The Revolutionary War was also a big step towards their independance!. So, America may not have been an established independant nation until after 1776, but we had a governmental system, laws, and enough support to start and win a war!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
