Hitler was raised Catholic, and in some of Mein Kampf he states that it would be doing God's work to rid the world of Jews!. Despite what some may tell you, this is completely abhorrent to Catholic teaching, or any Christian teaching, except for some very small cult/fringe groups which use the name of Christianity but are very far from it in any doctrine!.

Hitler was obviously very far from any religion when he began persecution and extermination of Jews, Freemasons, Gypsies, etc!.
Naziism was basically worship of Hitler!.

Some high-ranking Nazis attempted to revive the ancient pagan religion of Odin and Thor, but that never got very far!. Despite the ancient Viking religion being very oriented toward warfare and strength, I don't think even the Norse gods would have thought much of the mass slaughter of unarmed prisoners!.

Some have tried to make anti-Catholic material out of the fact that the Church never excommunicated Hitler, or any other prominent Nazi!. The simple fact is, that excommunication is a measure applied only to those who are practicing Catholics, or at least holding themselves out to be Catholic!. Hitler did not need to be excommunicated, he himself abandoned the Catholic Church!.

As for your last question, the world was slow to respond simply because no-one believed it!. Mein Kampf laid out very plainly what the Nazi agenda would be, but most everyone figured it for the usual politician tough-talk, and not a blueprint for the holocaust!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hitler was born into Roman Catholicism and though he did not follow the faith, believing that he himself was God incarnate, Hitler did follow the Roman Catholic belief that Jews were Evil monsters whop had conspired to kill Christ and therefore ought to be punished!. Hitlers own personal religion was he himself and he expected others to fawn over him, to accept his views & opinions as being sacrosanct and to obey his dictates!.
The World did not really Glom on to Mein Kampf when it was initially published it was a Book mostly read by Germans and few across the Globe paid all that much attention to Hitler or even to Germany!. It was only when Hitler seized power, so quietly as to not cause a ripple, that the World took any notice and the World, conditioned by Kaiser Bill or WW One fame, tended to view German Leaders as comic book creations and thus easily dismissed!.

I would hope that your question is for the purpose of understanding why Hitlers views will, and should continue to be listed as horrific!. You must realize that there are people in the world now, or will be born that will attempt the same thing again! Time creates lies that seem to cloud the real issues!. Evil is among us and we must keep it's demented reasoning before us to kill it whenever it arises!.
If your reason is not for these purposes then stop searching!. You are dealing with demons you don't understand!.
If you are in school and this is for a paper, I would look into the background of your teacher before you continue your resaearch!. What is the foundation of the reason a teacher would issue this assignement!? If the foundation is to keep the evil in front of humanity, then and only then are you or your teacher qualified to even look for explainations!. Hilter was and still is dripping with occult reasoning!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hitler often made vague references to God in his early speeches but in private he made no secret of his contempt for all religion!. Later, he reluctantly agreed to Himmlers idea of reviving the ancient Norse Paganism [as mentioned above]!. Finally, during the war he is on record as saying that after the German victory he would close down all the churches!. Hitler was an avowed atheist!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

KIB's answer had the solution, when you have sifted through his mouth-frothing blathering about evil and demons!. Whether this is for a report, or as a personal interest (which there is NOTHING wrong about by the way) then use your brain and hop on wikipedia!. Better still, follow KIB's advice and use your teachers source material which you should have been given!.

Remember, try to back up anything wikipedia says with another source!.

Really, do you need Yahoo Answers to write your report!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
