Question: Would u help me developing my idea plz help!?
i've this idea of writing a kind of a historical story in which the main character is a young man(presents actual events from his point of view and he might be also a participant and get involved in the events happening around him) who begins his long journey through the ages and experiences most of the remarkable events in the human history from the beginning till the end(the future events would take place during some few days before the end of the world from the point of view of myth and religion)
the events can be sometimes historical or mythological(involving, for example, meeting legendary figures and characters!.visiting fiction places and such)
i know that historical stories take place during a notable period in history, and usually during a significant event in that period!.but i wanna do something somewhat different!.
what do u think and what do u suggest!.
how should i begin and should i use real names of persons and places
anything would be helpful thanks

The author Edward Rutherford does this exceptionally well!. He mingles fictitious characters with actual historical ones and peppers his books with events and people that are easily recognizable although they might not always make it into the history books!. I would recommend reading one or two of his books just to get a sense of how someone might do that (I loved Russka and London, although Sarum is great too!)

You need to find your central character and decide how to introduce him!. How is it that he manages to live throughout the ages!? Where does he come from!? Why is his story important or interesting!? Does he make it a point to travel to places that he knows things are happening in!? For example, does he live in the present and get jolted back in time and decide to travel the ancient civilizations and look for the founders of modern religion!? Or does he start as a pre-historic warrior man who must adapt to the changing times!?

I would mix both major events that *everyone* learns about in school with smaller events that don't often get the attention that they deserve!. For example, the construction of buildings or the first appearance of some yummy new popular food!. Put them in interesting spots like the Hippodrome or comparing the world's fairs of Paris and Chicago!. Popular events like carnivals, fairs or celebrations would be interesting to see from the perspective of an ordinary person!. Famous coronations, executions, etc!. There are lots of primary sources out there for inspiration as well!. Just make sure you do your research carefully!.
