German people of modern day society feel the negative burden of Hitler, and being ashamed of their past!. World war II is very rarely discussed among people of German descent because of the horrendous happenings that took place during their countries conflict with allied forces!. They feel the pressure of being labelled incorrectly by everyone else - it's something they're not proud of or support!. It really affects some of them when the issue does arise, because it is such a delicate talking point!. Being blamed for the problems of a government that manipulated its people is wrong yet it does happen!. I believe Germany is doing everything it can to forget what occured those 65 odd years ago and focus on future operations!.I have talked to German students who actually claim they learn very little about world war II, in their education, and of course why would they want to, apart from the mere interest of the topic!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think that one Nazi war criminal (whose name escapes me at present) put it best!. He said, "Germany will be apologizing for what we did for a thousand years!."
I think an over-whelming majority of the German people still feel ashamed for what Hitler did!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They put a parking lot over the bunker he died in!.
Not exactly a lasting tribute to the man or his legacy, but very fitting in my opinion!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They probably tired of reminding everyone that Hitler was Austrian and not German!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They probably feel the same way as most people feel about him!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
