Question: What did it mean when a studio star was under contract to a studio- what were pros and what were cons!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
It meant that the star could only make movies that were being made by that particular studio, essentially the star was the property of the studio!. The pros were really only for the studios since they had the actors under contract to them regardless of how big of a star the actor or actress became!. One of the cons was that performers often were not able to take roles that might be perfect for them because the movie was being produced by a different studio than the one thy were under contract to!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Studio stars had a guaranteed income!. They were sure they would be in movie after movie!.

However Charlie Chaplin and a few others felt they could make more money!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
