Question: What type of jewelry was worn during the Civil War!?

I do Civil War reenacting, and all the jewelry they sell at the reenactments is overpriced and there's very little variety!. I'm not a stickler for perfectly period correct pieces, but what kind of jewelry that I could buy or might already have could I wear!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Union or Confederate!? The Confederate ladies took a stance on jewelry - anything valuable (gold wedding rings, brooches, etc) they donated to the war effort (or at least put away and didn't wear in public)!. So they would wear things like lockets with locks of hair in them, or bracelets woven from the hair of dear departed loved ones!. They wore ivory or bone ornaments (again, these would be mostly bracelets) and small pierced earrings!.
In the north, there was no such patriotic charge!. Women wore their regular jewels!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Here's a clue smarty!.!.!.The jewelery sold at reenactments is called "Period" or "Costume" jewelery!. It IS the type of jewelery worn during that period in history when the Civil War was fought!.
