The rights referred to were inspired by Jean-Jacques Rousseau, in part!. Rousseau wrote that there was a "social contract" between the ruler and the ruled, that guaranteed subjects to have certain rights "endowed" to them by God!. Remember, this was during a time when monarchies ruled because of the concept of divine right!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
