Question: Isnt it wrong to say that the british had an overall positive influence on india during the colonial years!?
taking into account many of the historical facts, just for example:
Bengal famine of 1770 or Jallianwala Bagh massacre!.
the thing is, every think what the british did in india was to make and maximise their profit in india!. ( or is there anyone out there who think
that the british came to india to help the poor indians!?!?!? ) what the indians made out of the circumstances has nothing to do with the british!.
or else the conditions in africa must be the same as in india!.
if one says!.!.!.
the british built the railway in india!.!.!.!. (to transport the goods away from india efficiently for british profit!.)
the british education system!.!.!.!. (was to indigrate the indians to maximise the british profit by controling the natives!.)

The overall impact of the Brits in India is controversial!.
However, two positive things they did was improve public health, and provide the unifying English language!. The population of India tripled during the British reign!. The English language gave India something all could use to communicate - without it, the country could not be unified!. Indians are very proud of their version of the English language, which they call 'Inglish!.'Www@QuestionHome@Com
Colonization was beneficial in EVERY place it was done!. It provided a technological, cultural and societal bootstrap to the 3rd world!. Obviously, it wasn't done in the interests of those countries and there was a lot of downside!. But over the long term, it's been beneficial!.
It's important to remember that many of these places, India being far less so than most, were literally up to 10,000 years behind in human advances!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My friend is Indian!. She grew up in India!.!. she certainly thinks that the British were good for India!.!. She thinks that things have gone downhill since INdida got it's independence!.!.!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
I think it's totally wrong!. They didn't really help do anything I have to say!. They kicked the Native Americans out of their own country, took the Africans as slaves, and later, during the 1900's sent the Asian Americans to concentration camp just because they looked Asian!. I think that they were a bunch of greedy crazy explorers in the past!. Some of the cruelist people in history!. I know that most of them aren't like that though!. I don't want to be offensive, I'm just saying!.!.!. Add up everything they did to OTHER people!. At least the Indians, African, and Asians, kept most of their wars and sicknesses inside of their own country!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
