Question: Why didn't the people on Titanic climb onto the iceberg to wait for survivors that way!?

It was cold! I went to a Titanic exhibit and they had a display were you can touch a mini iceberg!. Imagine all the people floating in the water, trying to survive but the water was so cold!. The outside air was already 43 degrees F, try the water or ice!. Secondly, the I don't think climbing on top of icebergs were a walk in the park!. On top of that your arms and legs would be too numb to be used!. Remember only 10% of the icebergs floats on top of the water, the other 90% is underwater!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

how can u get ontop of a giant iceburg theirs no ladders nothing its made of solid ice and if u where plundged into freezing cold water would you be able to start climbing something if it was at all possible to climb and the ship could of gone on for a few miles before anyone knew it was sinking and then the time it took for it to get everyone onto lifeboats and then the time it took the ship to go down!.

it took the titanic almost 3 hours to sink by then they could or couldnt be any iceburgs around

hope this helpsWww@QuestionHome@Com

The iceberg would have been a long drop down, plus standing on ice in the frigid air would not have been much better than the water - plus theirs the problems of balance on the slick surface and the possibility that a lot of people might actually just sink the berg and them into the water anyway!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There were no icebergs in the vicinity, this has been stated by dozens and dozens of survivors!. While the Carpathia had to dodge several to get to the sinking sight, and dawn brought the view of a huge field of ice, there was no ice in the near vicinity of the sinking spot!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

By the time the passengers realized the ship was sinking they were well past the iceberg!. Remember they believed they were on the only unsinkable ship and nobody told them that the ship was for sure going to sink!. All they were told was they needed to get on the life boats!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

do you really think a block of ice that sank a ship that big would have a ladder hanging down from the top for people to climb up!?

why didnt the people in the twin towers jump to the building next door when the planes hit!?

have you ever seen or touched ice!? its slippery!.

sorry for answering your question with questions!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

An iceberg is 90% underwater!. The part that hit the Titanic was underwater and not close to the surface part of the iceberg!. The people probably still would have froze on the iceberg but the water made it faster!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Most died of hypothermia!. They didn't have the strength to climb aboard a lifeboat, much less an iceberg!. It was freezing, by an iceberg, and likely with wind as well!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

The iceberg didn't stop the ship!. It cut a gash along the side of the ship, and it took several hours to sink!. By then, they were far away from the iceberg!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Probably because the water was super cold and this prevented rational thought!. But then they died within a few minutes anyway!. It probably sucked pretty bad!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The ice was probable to slippery to climbWww@QuestionHome@Com
