The opportunity to own land and amass wealth!. From the earliest days when the first to arrived expected to find gold and jewels littering the beaches to today!. It has always been about owning land and amassing wealth!.

Winthrop and his followers arrived believing they could establish a new "City on the Hill" (Jerusalem!. They believed that the Hanover's in England (now the Windsors) were corrupt in their faith!. Their intent was to align themselves in their religious beliefs and then take them back to England!. What happened was that after they arrived and set up their colony, they found that they had to expand the borders of that colony in order to secure them!. The farther they moved away from the center of their colony the more corrupt they became with the idea of owning land and amassing wealth!. Seems only the aristocracy in England could REALLY own land and gain wealth!. The more that arrived in the colonies, the more they found themselves having to push westward!. They began to cross over into the Ohio River Valley and into confrontation with the Native Indians and the French!. The colonists envisioned an "empire" built of land!. Those back in England wanted an empire built upon the waves in the form of the world's strongest navy!. Paradigms began to grind against one another!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
