Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
The king, Louis XVI, called the Estates General, which was a group made up of the First Estate (the clergy), the Second Estate (the nobility), and the Third Estate (everyone else)!. Anyway, they met just outside Paris!. The three groups didn't get along, and the Third Estate wanted to make real changes to help the French people, while the two other estates were delaying things!. The Third Estate broke away from the other two and established themselves as the ones to speak for the country!. Most people in Paris supported the Third Estate and were afraid that the king was gonna send troops to attack them and the Third Estate!. On 14 July 1789, a group of Parisians stormed the Bastille prison to get arms to confront the king's troops, which never arrived!. Nonetheless, the Third Estate, now called the National Assembly, knew they had the support of the people in Paris, which was where they were located!. With their support, the National Assembly knew it was safe from any attacks from the king, who opposed change, and that the majority of people supported its actions!. So, to sum up, Paris helped to start the Revolution because the people there supported the National Assembly and kept it safe, and this gave the National Assembly a chance to write a constitution and enact other changes for France!.
