My Lai was the mass murder of civilians in a village in the Vietnam War by Charlie Company of the US Army!.It was probably one of the most embarrassing moments for the US as a country!.

Prior to the incident, they (the Company) were told that the village was evacuated and anyone still there was a communist sympathizer!.Most of the killing was ordered by First Lietenant William Calley who was arrested, many others were also court martialed!.The incident was the primary cause of worldwide outrage of the war,ill treatment of veterans and it helped Communism overall, until the 1980s when the Soviets did similar things in Afghanistan!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

the military that were involved in it were givin a slap in the wrist basically and the leader in charge of the attack was given a trial!. the problem with their trials was the fact that america gives too much leniency to military officials, he recieved no jail time!. which is awful!. the problem it later caused is that it drove more people into the hands of the vietcong, when they saw how ruthless the americans were it made the vietnamese think twice about allowing america to occupy its countryWww@QuestionHome@Com

At first it was covered-up!. There were court martials!. See more below!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
