Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Children, aged nine to twelve years old, began working in factories!. They were often employed by their fathers and would work twelve hour days!. The first cotton spinning machines were more readily operated by small children because of their small size!. In 1878 the Factory And Workshops Act was passed and made it illegal to employ children under 10 years of age!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
