I think both, regarding history making great leaders I think that as time progresses an o!.k leader can be made a great leader as they are remembered more fondly than perhaps they ought to be depending on the situations after that leader!. So for example the people of late 1930s Germany could look back and think that the leaders of Wiemar Germany were greater just because of the sufferings under Hitler even though the previous leaders weren't great in their time!. So it is history in the sense of the passage of time!. If you understand my reasoning!.

And then it is often the case that great leaders make history although making history is not exclusively made by great people, Hitler made history after all!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Events can make great leaders, if they rise to the challenge of those events!. History is an account of events in the past--it can't really "make" anything because it's already happened!. And, yes, great leaders--or, rather, powerful leaders--do make history!. I wouldn't call Hitler "great," but he certainly altered the course of world history!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think it is a bit of both!. When special situations occur, it gives people, who might otherwise have lived ordinary lives, the opportunities they need!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Great leaders make history!. History doesn't make anything, in my opinion!. It's just a particular academic subject like political science or psychology!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
