There was the fact that the Democrats had had a lock on both houses of Congress and made a hash of things, plus the stagflation and the original gas crisis, and then to top it all off was the Iran hostage thing, with President Carter looking impotent!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The disastrous economy, with double-digit inflation, oil embargos and the political hotbed of Iran during the Carter presidence made people hungry for fiscal conservatism and hard-line foreign policy instead of appeasement!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
