You got that from national geo didn't you!? And yes, when they found black people in ancient Egypt, (about 1900s) people were snobs and liked to believe that the black people were there as slaves!. Racism indeed!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Egypt was a very diverse place!. It was kind of a crossroads between Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, so there were people of all different colours in ancient Egypt!. So I don't think its racism, though that may factor in it!. Look at the structures at Great Zimbabwe!. When European explorers saw them, they figured that black Africans couldn't possibly have built them! That was definitely racism, though I think the reality is different with Egypt!.

Well, I think you must be talking to some pretty ignorant people considering that Egypt is in Africa, it would be pretty hard for at least some of the people to not be African!.

Secondly, you are also partly wrong!. the Pyramids, though built during an extensive period, were primarrily built using slave or paid labor from many parts of the region including Italy, Greece, India, China and the Middle East!. Therefore, most of the people that built the structures themselves were likely to be mostly lighter skin color!.

A better question is why do you not sing the praises of the bronze workers of Benin, the great university at Timbuktu, the city of Great Zimbabwe, Shaka Zulu, the history of the Mahdi in Sudan, the history of the great trading routes from Aden in Arabia to Zanzibar in modern Tanzania!.

Well, I don't think it would be racism!. I mean, we all recognize teh Nubians as black people, and they controlled egypt for certain times(Egypt and Nubia kinda took turns ruling each others' land)!. also, what proof is there that they were black!. just out of curiosity!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

there are a few physical differences from "blacks" (africans) and "browns" (egyptians)!.

for one most middle eastern and egyptian hair is not kinky like africans hair is!. Their noses are also not as wide and they tend to have less junk in the trunk!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
