Between 1868 and 1905 Japan was modernized from a backward feudal nation into one capable of defeating a major European power (Russia) in a modern war!. Discuss how this was achieved!.

Basically in their thirst for power and influence the Japanese government made what ever changes were necessary to be able to compete with the world powers of the time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Russia was not allowed to use the Suez Canal to reinforce it's navy the U K has never given a true reason why
Some in the U S used to say they [UK] were behind the attack on Dec 7 at Pearl Harbour
Even after the war there was some talk of why the U S was asked not to attack Hong Kong during WW2
To clear things up The Suez Canal was controlled by the U K at that time
