You are asking two different questions!. Columbus didn't discover the Americas, he never landed on the mainland, so he had no influence or affect whatsover!.
If you are asking about the end result of Europeans coming to the Americas, they nearly succeeded in wiping out the indigenous, native population, and obliterating their culture!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Western society displaced the cultures and traditions already established in the area!.

However, its not really fair to call the effects of European migration "negative!." There is a fair argument to be made that while their numbers are less, native Americans now enjoy a much greater quality of life than they once did!. No longer must they preserve through exceedingly high infant mortality rates, starvation, or illnesses we have cures for today!.

Change is never negative or positive, it just is!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Actually Columbus didn't affect the natives of America, because he didn't find America until his last trip and all he did was touch a bit of Florida!. He did how ever affect the natives on the islands in the Gulf by killing them and bringing sickness!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Enslavement, manipulation and exploitation, brought disease that wipe out most of them!.

Note: The Caribbean islands are considered part of the Americas and there were natives living on the island when Columbus arrived in HispaniolaWww@QuestionHome@Com
