Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
It wasent just Britain that did not have universal suffrage!. France dident give women the right to vote until around WWII!. Women were considered to have the vote from their husbands and fathers!. After WWI, this changed as women enjoyed a lot of freedom from running the factories and home front!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Believe it or not one of the excuses given was that women's' brains were smaller than men's and therefore they could not grasp the
significance of politics or the ideas contained therein!. Women were
allowed to prior to 1918 BUT there were certain provisos like you had to have a male blood relative serving overseas and you had to be
over 30!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because Society was male dominated and that did not think women had any need to have the franchise!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because women vote for the candidate that looks best!.
