Because they were part of the British land and therefore brought many Australians into the war!. But in fact it made no difference!. The Australians, and by that matter no other country which joined on the side of the British made any difference towards the result of the war!. Neither the British side of the allies nor the Germans were able to cross "No Man's Land" so they decided to go through with the war of "attrition," which basically meant that both sides would just go all out and bomb each other until they ran out of bullets, supplies or other armament!. Once Germany found out that America was about to enter battle, Germany decided to stop the war since they knew that if they couldn't defeat the alliance up to this point, they would never win with the millions of Americans joining the side of the British Alliance!. Best of luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Australia, just like New Zealand and India, provided troops to the war as a member of the British Empire!.

In World War II, Australia was far more independent, and its government and dock workers were resistant to providing troops and services to the war!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
