I am not a young person - but I do teach them!.
They seem to be of the opinion that he freed the slaves!. Period!. They also make ignorant jokes about Ford's Theater!.
With the system we are forced to work with we don't have much time to really explore the "Man!." I certainly learned a lot more about him than current kids do!. This is a failure of the "system," not the child!.

He kept the US together when it was pulling apart at the seams!.

He initiated progress towards equal rights for black people, and abolished slavery!.

However, he was a man, and so of course he was not faultless!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think that he was great man who helped free the slaves in the South, and even helped lead the North to victory during the Civil War, and also signed and approved the Pacific Railroad Act that started the Transcontinental Railroad!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
