His field of expertise was the application of religious principles to politics; like the Chinese version of Aristotle, Lao Tse is the founder of Taoism, which is a religion with greater mystical elements; like Chinese version of Plato!. Confucius!. He had this neat device called the Mandate of Heaven!. While you were winning, and ruling, you had the Mandate of Heaven and were therefore entitled to rule!. So, whenever a revolution was successful the Mandate of Heaven had obviously been transferred!. Ultimately Confucian philosophy required allegiance to whomever had the Mandate of Heaven!. This meant that the rulers, whomever they were, had the support of the Confucian bureaucracy and any of the people who bothered to think about it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
