Question: How was the genocide issue in Rwanda 1994 resolevd!?
I watched the movie Hotel Rwanda and kinda got the gist of it, like the Tutsi rebels defeating the Hutu power people, I think!?

Is that right!? Or was it something to do with the UN as well!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Personally Hotel Rwanda was a poor illustration of the genocide in Rwanda!. I recommend reading Shake Hands with the Devil by Lt!. General Romeo Dallaire (autobiography)!.

The Tutsis used to rule Rwanda before they were kicked out, and lived as refugees in the surrounding countries!. (You'll need to research the history of Rwanda)!. When they had enough support, they formed the RPF as a political and military subgroups!. The more organized Tutsi, however few in number, battled the numerous Hutus, which were supported by the then ruling president, for Rwanda authority!. At one point in the book, I remember the Tutsis were supposed to rejoin Rwanda as an end to the Rwanda civil war (although I'm not entirely sure)!. The president at the time was already preparing a genocide upon Tutsis' reintegration into Rwanda!.

UNAMIR (United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda) was dispatched as an aid between the two races supported by the Belgians!. Lt!. G!. Romeo Dallaire was the one leading UNAMIR before enough media attention (Rwandan presidential plane shot down) drove herds of foreign aid into the Rwanda genocide!.

My opinion is, if the troubled nation doesn't have much foreign interest like diamonds, oil, material, they will receive no help!. Help only arrives when enough media catches the world's attention, and soon everyone wants to be a hero!.

Hope that helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
