I believe the Germans had a prototype helicopter called the Fa 223 "Drache" or "Dragon" in English!. I have no idea if it was used on the frontline or just a prototype!.

I never heard of a world war II era helicopter!. That's news to me and if the Nazis did have a helicopter I seriously doubt such an advantageous asset would have been used to save the life of a pilot!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Germans had something called a "Flettner FL 282 Kolibri" but it was used in limited combat situations around the Mediterranean!. I've never heard of it being used for pilot recovery!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Helicopters were in their infancy at the time, and few if any were used in actual combat situations!.
The Korean War was the first one to make extensive use of helicopters!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
