Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
~It hardly started in the '50s!. It more than a century old by then!. It became more visible, more volatile and more successful and had far loftier goals through the 50's and 60s, but the work being done then was started with the blood and sweat of those who came before!. Of course, in the 50s the courage, ability and wisdom of Earl Warren gave it tremendous impetus and Ike gave it protection!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
