Henry VIII was a wicked and disgusting man!. He did have 6 wives and 5 divorces/executions!. He also had numerous mistresses (funny, he always accused his wives of adultery when it was he who was sleeping around!. But I guess you can do that if you're the king)

As for all the answers you've gotten on Anne Boleyn, please notice that all those folks said NOVEL!. Meaning - it's mostly fiction with a little history thrown in!. Authors thrive on old rumors and legends!. Anne Boleyn was executed for adultery!. The real reason however was Henry didn't want to go through the nasty process of divorce!. Anne was a strong woman and quick witted!. She got on Henry's nerves and worse, she couldn't bear him a son (I believe she was the mother of Elizabeth but i could be wrong)!. So Henry had some people accuse Anne of adultery and then had her murdered!.!.!.ur, I mean, executed!. From what I've learned I believe the Boleyn sisters love triangle with Henry was false (although I wouldn't put it past Henry to have played with both)!. Btw- the movie is a joke!. It portrays Henry as a passionate man in love!. He wouldn't have known love if it slapped him in the face!. All he loved was himself!. I think people have just played up Henry's constant flirtings with anything wearing a skirt (so to speak)!. His mistresses are a bit of a mystery!. I do know he had several illegitamate children!.

Henry did start the Anglican Church!. He did this because the pope would not allow him to divorce his first wife Catherine!. At that time the Anglican Church was basically the same as the Catholic Church the only difference was the matter of divorce!. Which came in quite handy for Henry!.

He did have one son and two daughters legitamately!. Edward VI was a very sickly young man and died not long after he took the throne!. Mary then took over and reigned for 5 years!. During that time she earned the title Bloody Mary!. She hated her father for executing her mother!. She also hated his Anglican Church!. She brought catholicism back to England and murdered anyone who would not yeild to the rules of the church!. She soon died of cancer though!. Then Elizabeth took over and reigned for 45 years!. She was one of the most intelligent woman to ever live!. She was also an incredible queen and, in my book, one of the greatest rulers of all time!. She brought the Anglican Church back but with a few changes!. She also allowed religious freedom to all!. Not bad, considering who her father was!.

Henry 8th had 6 wives
Catherine of Aragon
Anne Boleyn
Jame Seymour
Ann of Cleves
Catherine Howard
Catherine Parr
He had a daughter Mary with Catherine of Aragon, a daughter with Anne who became Elizabeth 1st and a son Edward 6th with Jane Seymour who died when he was 6!.
When you talk about Mary's son I don't know who you mean by that!.
Anne Boleyn was executed on charges of adultery on evidence that was non existent but which was not impossible given her character!.
There are many history books on the Tudors which will give you much more accurate information and are available from the library!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Books like Phillipa Gregory's "The Other Boleyn Girl" show that there is much debate about whether Henry Carey and Catherine Carey were Henry VIII and Mary Boleyn's offspring!. Historians on the whole believe that the affair ended about a year before Catherine was born!.

There is further proof in that Catherine and Henry had about 24 children between them, whilst all of Henry's children (legitimate and illegitimate) died without leaving heirs, possibly infertile because of Henry VIII's syphilis!.

In real life, Mary Boleyn was not an innocent girl!. Before becoming Henry's mistress, she was with King Louis of France!

Have a care with reading "faction" books like Philippa Gregory because the details can be a little off-but they are brilliant none the less!.

Mary Boleyn's son (Henry VIII 2nd illegitimate, the first being Henry Fitzroy, mother being Elizabeth Blount) , age of two Anne Boleyn was granted wardship over him by Henry VIII (probably because she was worring she couldn't have a son of her own at this point!.)
Later in life Henry Carey was enobled Lord Hunsdon on his deathbed by Elizabeth I!.

You should read "The Boleyn Inheritance" -its a really good novel about his wives Anne Boleyn, Anne of Cleves, and Katherine Howard!.
Basically he had a son (I don;t remember what happened to him -I think he died or something) and two daughters -Mary and Elizabeth!.
Mary took the throne after her fathers death!. She wasn't a very popular queen and was nicknamed "bloody Mary" for her Protestant persecutions!. Elizabeth took the throne after her!.

Significantly, Henry the 8th established the Anglican church (the Church of England)!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Mary was a maid of honour to Cathrine of Argon!.
Married William Carey then had an affair with Henry!.
Her son Henry Carey was said to have the look of Henry!.
When William died Anne was granted wardship of Henry & had him educated!.
His sister was a favourite of Queen Elizabeth 1st
He went on to hold several offices for Elizabeth!.
I think he was buried in Westminster Abbey!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

remember the rhyme,
the order of what happened to the wives---
DIVORCED, BEHEADED, DIED, DIVORCED, BEHEADED, SURVIVED!.

if only i could tell you the order the wives came in!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you still have imperial measures feet, yards etc in Canada HV111 introduced the standard foot the exact length of Henrys foot!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Henry never had 6 wives! There were annulments which means that the marriages were treated as never existing, and I wish I had my books with me so that I could quote you the sourceWww@QuestionHome@Com

Henry VIII was not 1st in line for the throne!. His brother Arthur was!. Arthur was married to Catherine of Aragon a Spanish woman!. When Arthur died Henry became 1st in line for the throne and married Catherine of Aragon!.

They were married for 24years but only one of their children Mary survived!. At the beginning of his reign Henry was a devout Catholic and even wrote a pamphlet attacking Martin Luther (the man who began the Reformation)!.

Henry began looking for an annulment when it became clear that Catherine would never give him a male heir as she was past child bearing age!. The Pope refused to grant an annulment forcing Henry to break from the Catholic Church and set up the Anglican church with himself as head!.

He then divorced Catherine of Aragon and married Anne Boleyn a former lady-in-waiting of Catherine!. Before this he had taken Anne's sister Mary as a mistress!. Mary did have a son - Henry Carey, though it is unknown whether he was Henry's son or the son of Mary's husband William Carey!.

Anne Boleyn had a daughter, Elizabeth!. Like Catherine she failed to produce a male heir and Henry grew dissatisfied!. He turned his attentions to another lady-in-waiting Jane Seymour and began looking for ways out of his marriage!.

Anne was accused of treason, incest and witchcraft!. She had a small bump on her left hand which looked like a sixth finger and this was used to prove that she was a witch!. She was beheaded!.

Mary's son Henry Carey grew up became a member of Parliament, was knighted and later made a Baron by his cousin and possibly half sister Queen Elizabeth I!.

Hi! I never studied this, and didn't know anything about it, but thought I'd learn something today :) Here's a link I found that might be helpful!.!.!.very interesting :)

http://en!.wikipedia!.org/wiki/Mary_I_of_E!.!.!.

Edit: Hmmm!.!.!.from what I read!.!.!.she had two phantom pregnancies, never had a child and then died at the age of 42!.!.!.which would make sense!.!.!.since Elizabeth took the throne after Mary died!. Oh wait!.!.!.I think that's a different Mary!. Ann's sister Mary was a mistress of the Henry!. Sorry!.!.!.I was stuck on Henry's daughter Mary :P

This is the Mary you are talking about :) She was married to someone else, but it was rumored that one or both of her children (boy & girl) were fathered by Henry!.

omg this is so cool because i just finished reading phillipa gregory's novels 'The Constant Princess' (about his wife Katherine) and 'The Other Boleyn Girl' (about Anne)!. There was actually a movie made of the Other Boleyn Girl as well!. Basically they way Phillipa Gregory wove it was that she portrayed Anne as a desperate character, who lost a baby then tried to seduce her brother to sleep with her so that she wouldn't have to tell the king she miscarried!. As for Mary's son, he retired to the countryside!.

You should reallllly rent the movie it was excellent !!! Www@QuestionHome@Com
