Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
There were always plagues, but the mid-14th century plague that became known as the Black Plague (which probably coincided with a major anthrax attack) killed one-third of the population!. It was a turning point for Europe--it began the end of the feudal period as there were many fewer serfs, and these people became more valuable!. In the chaos, they left their feudal owners and traveled around looking for the best "deal" meaning land for farming, lighter work, etc!. also, those who died left whatever they had for those who lived, so the resulting standard of living for all went up!. Yes, for two reasons:

1)Authoritarian structures temporarily broke down during the Black Death, which helped lead to the end of feudalism (and, start of Rennaisance)

2)As a result, Europe would not be over-populated, allowing her to progressWww@QuestionHome@Com
