Question: What years were the Holocaust!?

Every website I try to search on gives me different years!.
1933-1941, 1938-1945

The holocaust is generally dated as beginning on 30 January 1933 when Adolf Hitler became the chancellor of Germany and ending on 8 May 1945 with V-E Day!.

From 1933 - 1942, starting when Hitler came into power, the Nazis institued antisemitic laws, began to arrested and deport Jews to concentration camps, and often groups like the SS would massacre Jews in occupied Eastern Europe!.

The "Final Solution", the Nazis' term for the extermination of European Jewry in the death camps, began in 1942 after the Wannsee Conference and ended in 1945 when Nazi Germany collapsed!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think it would be from '33 to about '45 (when Hitler's reign ended)!. In '33, the first concentration camp opened and of course the rights of Jews in Germany were slowing being stripped away!. By '45, most of the concentration camps had been liberated by the Allied Powers!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'd say that 1933 - 1945 is about right!.

But 1940 is when the murder starts in earnest - when Germany had taken over Poland, with it's many many thousands of Jews!. With the invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941 Einsatzgruppen (Death squads) followed the troops rounding up Jews and communists and killing them!.

This developed into the industrial scale murder of millions - and Hitler diverted resources to the camps even when the Soviets and Allies were at the gates of the Reich!.
