Be very careful when using Charles Highham as a source for history!. He has been discredited on several of his books by legitimate historians!. He is known to pander to Hollywood and most of his books become movies!. He does not document any of his sources and specializes in innuendo and rumor!. not in historical research!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
Standard Oil was an American company now called Exxon with the brand name ESSO!.
It was well known in 1940 and 1941 that German U-boats sinking British convoys in the North Atlantic were being refuelled in mid-ocean by ESSO tankers to save them having to return to Germany for refuelling!.
In 1940 Standard OIL of America sold the process for making synthetic rubber to Germany which probably prolonged the war by a few months as this was a vital war material at a time when Germany had difficulty getting natural rubber!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
