Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Vladimir Illich Lenin (born Ul'yanov) was the leader of the Bolshevik faction of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party who seized power in the events of October (Julian calendar, November in the Gregorian Calendar) 1917!.

He was the chief architect of the Soviet Union!. In 1922 he suffered his first stroke, and in 1924 he died!.
So he was responsible for the ideology and to some degree for the organisation of the USSR at the outbreak of WW2 some 15 years after his death!.

(written in Soviet times by a Russian Author - so it gives a Soviet view of who he was and what he did)

The Tsar - Nicholas II had been executed in 'Ekaterinburg in 1918 having abdicated in the Feb (Julian, March - Gregorian) 1917 Revolution!.

edit: Nicholas was dead when Versailles was being negotiated - Russia was excluded as they had signed a seperate peace with germany earlier in 1918 (Treaty of Brest-Litovsk)

Lenin's funeral was in 1924!. Tsar Nicholas II was killed in 1918, which is when the then Russia pulled out of WWI!.
During WWII the Soviet Union was ruled by Stalin aka Joseph Djugashvili, born 1879 in Gori, Georgia!.
I'm not sure how either Lenin or Tsar Nicholas could be connected to WWII!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The other respondents have answered your questions accurately!. I would just like to dispel the hoary old myth that the Treaty of Versailles was a cause of WW2 and that the Germans were unfairly treated!. I am amazed that people who condemn Hitler's persecution of the Jews accept this Nazi propaganda justifying his aggression!. He didn't have to invade Czechoslovakia, Poland, Russia!.!.!.nothing in the Versailles Treaty to justify Hitlers psychopathic aggression and genocide, and the provisions of the Treaty for Germany were in relative terms far more lenient than Germany imposed on France at the conclusion of the 1871 Franco Prussian War - Germany never abided by most of the Versailles Treaty conditions anyway!.

Let's get our history right, and not continue accepting conventional wsidom handed down by second-rate teachers relying on out-of-date texts!. I suggest you read 'Paris 1919' by Margaret Macmillan published by Random House, an excellent account of the Treaty and also its aftermath!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

They are two individuals who were enemies in World War I !. Lenin desired to take over from the tsarist regime which had sunk the country into chaos and ruin !. Tsar Nicholas II and his family were killed at Ekaterinberg in 1918 by the Bolsheviks!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Communism was rampant in Germany, thats why Hitler came to power to eradicate it and he did for the most part, but then he went off the deep end and you know the rest of the story!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Both these individuals were dead before WW2, in fact Lenin had ordered the execution of Tsar Nicholas in 1918 and I believe Lenin died in 1927!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
