Position:Home>History> Qin Shi Huang Di: hero, villian, or neither?

Question: Qin Shi Huang Di: hero, villian, or neither!?
I am curious to know what others think about this individual!. The guy (portrayed in the 3rd "Mummy" movie) built a terracotta army, oversaw the construction of the Great Wall, and, according to Wikipedia, unified China and introduced legalism!.

Some say he was a smart guy, great ruler, etc!. However, he was known for having scholars buried alive and other nasty stuff!.

What's your take on this guy!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

This question is like!.!.!.!.

"Is Alexander, Napoleon, Ghengis-Khan, Julius Caesar, Timulane : Hero, Villian, or neither!?"

The answer would be

Yes, he was a hero and a villian at the same time!.

--------------------------------------!.!.!.
Is he hero!?

1!.He succeeded to unite whole China for the first time

By doing so, he put an end to endless war of Spring-Autumn Era

(think of it as the World War that went for 4 decades!. More than 4 million people died, only soldiers counted)

2!.He standarized currency, language, written code of China

3!.He constructed social-infrastructures!. His era was the era of constructuon!. The Great Wall was the most popular, but not only achievement he's done!.

4!.He succeeded to outpower (and rampage) outer nations and races!.
Therefore, China could claim its superioty and special authority over other Asian nations

I say he was definitely a VILLIAN to people he invaded!.!.!.he was more cruel invading non - Chinese!. Just like all the other conqurors, he was mean to his enemies

5!.He turned China into one, huge economic/social/cultural community

6!.He made it illegal that people to have slaves

<surprised, huh!? well, it was motived by his political purpose!.!.!.but still this is very impressive and must be remembered>

7!.He wiped out noble-families and old superstitious customs!. Then he replaced those with appointed governors and law!. Now governors were appointed by talents, not by their blood

* To be concluded, Qin Shi Huang built the foundation of Chinese Empire!. And he changed China from bunch of small, various nations into one united country *
--------------------------------------!.!.!.
Is he villian!?

1!.He killed MANY people during doing his job!.
For example, he killed 200,000 soldiers of Cho (didn't take surrenders

2!.He tried to unite even philosophy and ideology!.!.!.yes, that's what all conqurors try to do after their success, but Qin Shi Huang did it way too seriously!. He killed philosophers who opposed him(not in a violent way) and burned down books he thought dangerous

3!.He tried to hold too much power in his hand!. Building a central - government with authority was a good idea, but he did a lot more than that!. Therefore, emperors after him used way too much power, even though they weren't as skilled or visionary as Qin Shi Huang Di!.

--------------------------------------!.!.!.
So, I say!.!.!.he is both a hero and a villian

He was ambitious, brilliant, determined, and was a visionary

But

He was also too suspicious, cruel, and dogmatic

But it is obvious that

He was one of the most important historic figures in world history

And China could not exist, or very different from what it is now

without himWww@QuestionHome@Com
