I hate to state the obvious, but the Egyptian empire was one the most powerful empires not more than 4000 years ago!.

They reigned from the period of Old Kingdom, Middle Kingdom and right on to the New Kingdom when the Roman empire adopted it as a sister Kingdom!.

They're technological advancements changed the world!. With simple mud and straw they created bricks!. A new building material that would prove to last millennia!. They also brought paper to the world, creating the first truly portable medium for reading and writing!. In fact, it is estimated that the Egyptian illiteracy rate was only a piddly 2-5%!. Compare this to the illiteracy rate of Industrial revolution England at an astounding 40-55%!.

Sure, slavery was abound during those ancient times, but that practice was taught to the Romans in the New Kingdom allowing other great innovations such as aqueducts and planned cities!.

Africa accounts for most of the modern world's advancements, and this should not be forgotten!. Considering the origins of species theory, many people believe that Africa may have been the beginning of human race!.

Yeah, as far as we know, there may not have been one--technologically there were few advancements there, there wasn't a Renaissance, but again, we don't know because we don't have a history of that area!.

EDIT:

Because he was saying there was none, I figured he was excluding Egypt and talking about black Africa (note that I am not a racist, this is, historically-speaking, a valid term)!.

And yes, I should have mentioned that!. I also should have mentioned that the Nubians, Bantu, and other tribes had trading and mining periods!. So my B!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
