Question: Who in history was the closest to conquering the world!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I'd say the infamous Mongol Warrior Chief Ghengis Khan!. He conquered a large part of the world!. His Empire included parts of China, Central Asia, the Middle East and Europe and his Empire lasted 150 years after his death; an impressive feat!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

The mongols conquered an area twice the size of Alexander the Great and four times the size of what the Romans did!. However most of this land was unoccupied, so they just had control over land where no one lived!.
Alexander the Great defeated more enemies then anyone else and is probably the best before the New World was discovered!.
Hitler in fact did not want to conquer the whole world, just more land for the German people to have as living space "Lebestraum"!. so his conquests would have ended with the defeat of the Soviet Union (if he had won there)!.
Napoleon was probably the only one in history to actually believe he could conquer the whole world!. He (as Hitler later would) lost in Russia!. He actually sold the Louisiana Purchase to the US with the idea of after conquering Europe he would invade and conquer the New World ie taking back the Louisiana Purchase and more!. When Queen Victoria was around, Britain controlled a lot of the world!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The British Empire included more land and a greater percentage of the world's population than any other!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

King Solomon of Israel, as there are legends which suggest he ruled countries which were unknown in the Middle East!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
