Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It was discovered that the blacks did better at working long hours in the heat, and that not only did the Indians succomb to the hard labor and disease, but that they were able to run away and join other Indian tribes and escape enslavement!. By using Africans, not only was the investment longer lasting, but they were not native to the land!. Even if one did run away, he could not know where to go, and so would die in the woods, or would be quickly recovered!. also, African slave ports were so popular because coastal African tribes would travel into the interior and kidnap entire villages and sell them to the slave traders who stopped in to port!. So it was africans selling their own kind, in a sense!. The native americans were killed by the diseases the europeans brought over and could not maintain the plantations!. The europeans found that the africans were "hardy or sturdy" (not a way to describe any human) and that is why they sued the africans for slaves!.Www@QuestionHome@Com They actually did enslave the Indians first!. However, the Indians were found to not be as "hardy" as the Africans, and they frequently died from diseases that the Europeans brought with them!.
